About the Collection

The Pink Floyd drummer has collected competition cars since buying his Ferrari 250 GTO in 1977, chronicled in his book Into the Red. His holdings, profiled by British GQ and Goodwood, include the GTO, a 1996 McLaren F1 GTR, a Birdcage Maserati, and the Ferrari 312 T3 in which Gilles Villeneuve won the 1978 Canadian Grand Prix.

Custodianship Philosophy

"Racing cars were made to be driven — a museum piece that never turns a wheel is only half preserved."
