About the Collection
The financier practices 'patriotic philanthropy' with paper: his 1297 Magna Carta — one of four surviving copies — hangs on permanent loan in the National Archives gallery that bears his name, alongside loans of the Bay Psalm Book, an Emancipation Proclamation printing, and other founding-era documents (National Archives, Library of Congress).
Custodianship Philosophy
"Buy the document, then give it back to the country."
